Daisy Shephard Britt, 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her family, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Daisy was born in Richmond County to Willie Shephard and Annie Richards. She was preceded in death by her parents, two older sisters, her younger brother and her baby daughter, Lorene.
Prior to moving to North Carolina, Daisy and her husband, Melvin, spent their early married years in Baltimore, Maryland, where they raised their family and made many lifetime and close friends. In North Carolina, Daisy enjoyed working as a sewing plant supervisor, where she encouraged others to work hard and take pride in their work. She was a member of Pilot Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
Daisy loved her family. She was married to her husband and best friend, Melvin Roland Britt, of the home, for 67 years. She was his gift, on loan from Jesus, and one day, he knows he will be with her again. Daisy is also survived by her sons, Roland, and his wife Jamie of Raleigh, Robert, and his wife Andrea, of Goldsboro, and Denny, and his wife Linda of Edgewater, Florida. Her heart also belonged to her four grandchildren, Andrew Britt and his wife Holli, Michael Britt, and his wife Gabby, and Benjamin Britt, and his wife MaryAnn, and Nicholas Britt, as well as her five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Kate Gardner, of Siler City.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at Pilot Baptist Church on Sunday, August 31 at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive visitors prior to the service at 2:00 p.m. A private burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Zebulon, NC.
