Richard Franklin Stinnette

Richard F. Stinnette, 76, son of the late Walter and Hazel Stinnette passed away Saturday after a battle with cancer. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday September 3, 2014 at Aversboro Road Baptist Church with Dr. Harvey Whaley officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Clayton.

Mr. Stinnette was born in Knoxville,TN on August 20, 1938, and moved to Columbia, SC in 1940 where he grew up. He was an active member of Bayview Baptist Church & Spring Valley Baptist Church in Columbia. At Spring Valley he was a member of Valley Voices Senior Choir. He retired from Southeastern Freight Lines after 28 years of service. He moved to Raleigh with his wife Bettie in 2007. They joined Aversboro Road Baptist Church in Garner and he led an active life that included church mission trips, a group singing ministry to senior centers and retirement homes and membership in both the Chancel and Joyful Noise Choirs.

He is survived by wife of 50 years Bettie Stinnette, daughters, Donna Scott and her husband Wes of Charlotte, Deborah Brock and her husband Keith of Apex and grandchildren Owen and Leah Brock. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Floyd and Fred.

The family will receive friends Tuesday September 2, 2014 from 6:00–8:00 pm at McLaurin Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Aversboro Road Baptist Church 1600 Aversboro Rd.
