Anna Galloway Collins went to be with her Lord, Monday, September 1, 2014 at age 93 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Her faith, hope, courage and smile never wavered. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, the Rev. Dr. Thomas A. Collins, founding President of N.C. Wesleyan College.
Anna was mother to four children, beloved by 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She will be remembered for her humor, her love of people, her fearless approach to life, her optimism and her desire to help others, even while she was very ill.
She was a graduate of Asbury College and spent years serving in various positions in her many churches, on boards and fulfilling many civic responsibilities.
One of her main responsibilities and pleasures was to be the supportive wife of Tom. She was his helper in 8 pastorates in N.C. and loved the 16 years he was at Wesleyan College. Through it all, she made many friends. We will miss her.
There will be a Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 2:00 at the chapel at Croasdaile Village, Durham, N.C., 27705.
Afterward, everyone is invited to visit with the family at a reception immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, consider a contribution in her memory to an organization of your choice, that provides water to those who, unlike us, cannot take it for granted.
