Dorothy Jean Leck, 82, went home to be with the Lord on September 21, 2014.
She was born in Ohio in 1932, and has lived in Raleigh with her family for the past 28 years.
Jean’s greatest joy in life was her family. Her loving husband of 56 years, Ray (his ‘little wife”); son Michael; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Phil Gevertz, all of Raleigh.
Jean was the heart of her family. At home, she loved to make crafts and create things. Her fabulous pies were the highlight of family meals. Jean always made birthdays and holidays extra special events. Family Christmases were her specialty. She loved to plan and direct family trips and vacations. Whether it was a 9000 mile, six week, camping vacation to 16 U.S. states, or a weekend trip visiting local historical sites, we could always count on her to find new places to explore. Jean also enjoyed serving as the assistant leader for her daughter’s Blue Birds and Camp Fire Girls troops, where she led weekend and group activities.
