A Spaniard and eldest of 5 (Mercedes, Antonio, Jaime, and Elvira) was living in China when World War II broke out. They fled to the Philippines and then finally returning to the family home in Spain.
After a whirlwind romance Victor married Gloria. They moved to Crete where Teressa was born. Soon after, new family moved to NY. He became a citizen in 1960 and exercised his right to vote in every election. Victor Jr was born shortly after they came to the US. At this same time, he began a 25 year career with IBM.
The family moved to NC where Victor and Gloria raised their family. Living in Durham, NC, he became a gardener and also learned to sail. Many weekends were spent sailing Hobie Cats in Bogue Sound.
In the last decade of his life Victor was Gloria’s care giver. Loving Chapel Hill and Carrboro, he was a familiar face always sporting his Barcelona team hat; he will be missed by many.
A private family service is planned.
