Nelson Castrodale

Nelson Castrodale, a longtime resident of Pittsburgh and then Westerville, Ohio, died on September 27th at age 92. The things he loved most were his family—especially Barbara, his wife of 61 years—and music, especially jazz. He will be remembered not only for his devotion to his family but also for his sense of humor, which remained to the end. Born in Arden, PA, Nelson attended the University of Pittsburgh and worked for the Columbia Gas System for 33 years, retiring as a rate engineer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Angela and Pasquale Castrodale; brothers, Cecil, Ted, Teno, and Velton; and sisters, June Pronio, Rhea Tranquill, Celia McCalley, Lillian Roehler, and Desia Castrodale. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Brown Castrodale, residing in Cary; sons, Grant (Debbie) Castrodale, also of Cary, and Neil (Susie) Castrodale; daughter, Beth (John E. Sullivan III) Castrodale; grandson, Brett Castrodale; granddaughters, Krista, Dara, and Logan Castrodale; sister, Dolores (Louis) Havel; sister-in-law, Louise Blue; brother-in-law, Charles Brown; sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Brown and Ruth Brown; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
