John Stewart Bailey, 55, of Raleigh, NC, passed away on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014 at his home.
John was born to the late James Robert and Mary Virginia Bailey in Parkersburg, WV.
John graduated as valedictorian of his class from St. Mary’s High School and received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from West Virginia University. After college, John moved and worked in California for 20 years where he met his wife, Mary Fulks Bailey, and many great lifelong friends. John and Mary relocated to Raleigh in 2002.
John worked as a Project Manager for various computer software companies, including IntelliCorp and Borland, and for the State of NC. He was often called the best manager ever by his colleagues. He made going to work fun.

John was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus, and The Slugs of Northern California. John loved spending time with his family and friends, travel, playing board and card games and watching movies. John was brilliant, compassionate, caring, and very generous. His humor and humanity were limitless. He had a gift for making everyone feel valued and special, and everyone he met became a friend.
John is survived by his wife, Mary Fulks Bailey, and two sons, Sean and Danny. He also is survived by his sisters, Cindi (Jay) Zittle of Raleigh, Kathy McVey of Elizabeth, WV, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral Mass and reception will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 1:00 pm at St. Luke’s Church at 12333 Bayleaf Church Road, Raleigh, NC 27614.
