Linwood Bruce Elmore, 73, of Raleigh, died on October 21, 2014. He was the son of the late John and Lucille Elmore.
Linwood was a graduate of Wendell High school, and went on to proudly serve in the United States Navy for 3 years on the destroyer, U.S.S. Harlan R. Dickson. He retired from IBM as a designer of security systems. Linwood was an avid golfer and bowler, and enjoyed a past time of fishing and dancing. He had a great sense of humor and loved to chat with people he encountered. He was always proud of his southern heritage.
He is survived by three daughters, Michelle Brock, and her husband, James, Christy Weikert, and her husband, Rob, Kelly Davison, and her husband, Jay; step-son, Jimmy Winkler, and his wife, Pam; sister, Ruth and brother, Billy; five grandchildren, Josh, Olivia, Natalie, Jayce, and Mollee; and grandchildren of his heart, Michal and Seth. He also leaves behind some very dear friends that he considers his family.
A funeral will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, October 24, at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC, with a visitation being held one hour prior. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. Condolences may be made at www.mitchellatrmp.com.
