Jacqueline Tatum West

Jackie was born in Winston-Salem, NC. Her parents were Joseph Edwin Tatum and Eulala Gambill Tatum. She was married to Ronald L. West, who preceded her in 2004. They had a wonderful life together in North Myrtle Beach, SC.

Jackie has always loved children and when she moved back to Raleigh to be closer to her sister, she began teaching in the Trinity Baptist Church Preschool as well as Sunday School where she was known by the kids as Ms. Jackie. When she lived in Charlotte, she taught Headstart children. She was also an Apartment Manager in Raleigh, Richmond and Durham. She also sold furniture for Bassett and was a top salesperson for the state at one time. Her favorite was always with the children.

She fought a good fight with ALS for 2 years. She is survived by her son, Michael Joseph Austin (Denise) and 7 step grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Brenda Tatum Fulp, (Ron) their three children and their 7 grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held in the Chapel of Trinity Baptist Church followed by interment in the church's Columbarium. Memorial contributions should be given to Trinity Baptist Church 4815 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27609 or to Transitions Life Care 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607. Many thanks to the nurses, representatives and others of Hospice who came faithfully to be with Jackie during her long struggle.
