Darrell Francis Mitchell, born June 6, 1946 to Wilbert and Hilda Mitchell of Goldsboro, NC, died suddenly and unexpectedly, while on vacation in Wrightsville Beach, NC on Nov 6, 2014.
He was a resident of Raleigh, NC since 1964. He was the founder of Atlantic Whirlpools which originated in 1987 in partnership with his uncle and cousin. With his savvy entrepreneurship, the business thrived and grew to three locations. Besides being a talented businessman, he was also an exceptional family man. Married to the love of his life, Lisa Sumner Mitchell, for 23 1/2 years, their union produced two wonderful children, Charlie and Molly, of which he adored.
Darrell was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother, Curtis Mitchell. In addition to his wife and children, Darrell is survived by his sister Marcia Mitchell and brother Bruce Mitchell as well as several nieces and nephews.
Darrell was an extraordinary person, and we will honor and remember him on Monday, November 10th. Visitation from 1:00 - 3:00 with service to follow at 3:00; Forest Hills Baptist Church, 201 Dixie Trail, Raleigh, NC.
