Elise Dowis Cagle, 92, of Salemtowne Retirement Community, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at Phillips Healthcare Center in Winston-Salem, NC. She died with complications from pneumonia. She married Charles David Cagle, April 4, 1941. They were married 32 years when he died in 1973.
Elise returned to college in 1973 and earned her BS in Nursing from Georgia State University. She then worked as a Public Health Nurse in Fulton County, GA. She had previously worked in the pediatric practice of Cary Sullivan, MD. Elise moved to Salemtowne in 2006 to be closer to family. She immediately joined First Baptist Church and went every Sunday as long as she was able.
She is survived by Nancy Baxley and husband John, of Winston-Salem, NC; Chuck Cagle and wife Debbie of Atlanta, GA; Lise Cagle of Raleigh, NC and Steve Cagle and partner Dave Periord of Greenville, NC. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, in The Smith Saal at Salemtowne Retirement Community, Winston-Salem, NC. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will follow on Nov. 22, 2014, at 1:00PM at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt. Vernon Highway, Sandy Springs, GA.
