Lamar "Mar" Cox Roberts passed away on November 6th, 2014. Lamar was born on April 8th, 1925 in Raleigh, NC. He attended Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC, and joined the United States Navy. Lamar served as a Torpedo Man 3rd Class during World War II. Once finished serving in the Navy he attended Campbell College, and went on to graduate from Wake Forest with a BA. He always had a passion for drums and played in many bands starting when he was a teenager. Lamar worked for Nationwide Insurance for over 30 years, and retired to North Myrtle Beach. Lamar was a member of V.F.W. and the American Legion. He attended Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church in North Myrtle Beach.
Lamar was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Kay, his sister, and three brothers. He is survived by his only daughter Marla "Roberts" Carroll of Cary, NC; his only granddaughter Brittany Carroll of Orlando, FL; and his great-granddaughter Hailey Carroll of Orlando, FL.
Services will be private with the family.
