Veterans from NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville and the greater Charlotte area gathered at the school Monday to celebrate their service during recognition ceremonies and a luncheon. Veterans make up a large portion of the student population at NASCAR Technical Institute, an automotive and NASCAR training school in Mooresville’s Talbert Pointe Business Park. About 200 student veterans attend the institute and are supported by the school’s counseling, financial support and health/insurance services.
At Cornerstone Baptist Church, American flags lined the lawn Monday. On Veterans Day, Tuesday, the church will honor all veterans with a recognition service that begins at 7 p.m. Music will be provided by The Promise, and the guest speaker is Maj. Gen. Robert F. Dees, U.S. Army retired. In addition to the service, a complimentary meal will be provided in the Family Life Center beginning at 5:45. All veterans are invited to attend and bring a guest to the meal. Joe Marusak and staff reports
