Sara Peeler Bracewell, formerly of Hickory, NC, passed away on November 8, 2014 at the age of 95. A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2014, 2 pm, at Corinth Reformed Church with Pastor Bob Thompson officiating. Family will receive friends in the Althouse Room immediately following the service.
Daughter of the late Dr. John C. Peeler and Sally H. Peeler, Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Philip H. Bracewell Sr., great-grandson, Philip H. Bracewell IV, seven sisters, and three brothers.
A native of Davidson County, NC, Sara was a graduate of Boyden High School and Catawba College. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who devoted her life to caring for her family. She was a faithful and long-time member of Corinth Reformed Church serving in many capacities, including the Women’s Guild as a Life Member, The Orpha Althouse Circle and other church offices. Sara was also a Life Member of Trout and Ducks Unlimited organizations.
Sara is survived by one brother, James Peeler of Burlington, NC; her children: Patricia Clayton and husband Gene of Jefferson, NC; Philip Bracewell Jr. and wife Connie of Tucson, AZ; Barbara Hebert and husband James of Woodbridge, VA; and Carol Bracewell of Boomer, NC; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Miller Funeral Home of Woodbridge, VA and Bass-Smith Funeral Home of Hickory, NC are in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Good Samaritan Fund of Corinth Reformed Church, 150 16th Avenue NW, Hickory, NC, 28601.
