Marion Marguerite Duraney, 83, of Raleigh, passed away on November 20, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Duraney, Sr. Marion was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister to her family, and she had a very caring and special relationship with all of her children and grandchildren. In addition, throughout her life, she made and kept many special friendships that she cherished.
Marion enjoyed music, playing the piano and listening to classical and Irish music. She also had a love for musicals. Marion was very creative and enjoyed sewing, and was very successful in everything she did, including her career and volunteer work.
Marion is survived by her children, Kathleen Duraney, William E. Duraney, Jr. (Christine), Karen Kernen (Joe), Christine Stumbo (Michael Agruso) and Carolyn Duraney (Anthony Rende); six grandchildren, Colleen Greenwald (Gary), Daniel Goodwin, Deacon William Duraney, I.V.E., Stephen Duraney (Mary Therese), Kevin Duraney and Molly Duraney; two great-grandchildren, Kiley Greenwald and Adelena Duraney; siblings, Peggy McIntyre, James McIntyre (Donna), Thomas McIntyre (Judy), Kathleen Handel (Dan) and Eileen Srsen (Terry); Additionally, she was sister-in-law to John Ferry, Steve Duraney (Terry), Gloria Freeman (Tim), Patricia Paul (Rick) and Mike Duraney (Jane).
In addition to her husband, Marion was also preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Gladys McIntyre; father and mother-in-law, Steve and Ann Duraney; and siblings, Kevin McIntyre, Dorothy McIntyre, and Maureen Ferry.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2014 from 6:00-8:00pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 11am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 11401 Leesville Road, Raleigh, NC. Interment will take place at Raleigh Memorial Park. Following the services, a reception will be held at the Homewood Suites, 5400 Homewood Banks Dr. Raleigh, NC.
