James Turner Key Jr. passed away peacefully on 11/11/14 after a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer’s. Born 1931 in Columbia, SC, Jim lived the past 40 years in Chapel Hill, NC. Jim was a gentle man, a passionate crusader for social justice, an active church leader, a lifelong scout leader and an avid outdoorsman. He received his undergraduate degree from Clemson and his MBA from UNC. Jim had three careers; first as an electrical engineer, then as a management consultant and finally his true calling as a leader in a non-profit (Self-Help) which championed economic opportunity for all. He was a special husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife Susanne Heyward Key, two sons Jason and Martin, their wives Carla and Lori and his three grandchildren, Emerson (Emmy), Harper and Siims. Also surviving Jim are his 2 brothers and their wives - Bill and Glenda, Sam and Kathryn., and their children and grandchildren.
