Abigail Shelton Corpening and Brian James Hodges were married on October 25, 2014, at The Winds Resort in Ocean Isle, NC. Dr. William Frederick Rose officiated the 4:00 beach ceremony. A reception of dinner and dancing followed. A rehearsal dinner on Friday night was hosted by the groom's parents at The Winds' Island Oasis Deck.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hardin Corpening of Chapel Hill, NC. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Hasty Hodges of Clayton, NC, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, NC.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father. The matrons of honor were Anna Corpening Edwards of Little Mountain, SC, and Katherine Corpening Neighbors of Raleigh, sisters of the bride. Bridesmaids were Susan Hodges Perdue, sister of the groom, of Clayton; Ashlie Gay Pope, friend of the bride, of Raleigh; Caroline Smith Rose, friend of the bride, of Charlotte, NC; and Megan Elizabeth Sanders, friend of the bride, of Charleston, SC; and Junior Bridesmaid, Hardin Elisabeth Edwards, niece of the bride, of Little Mountain, SC. Margaret Durant Edwards, niece of the bride, of Little Mountain, SC, served as flower girl. Henry Nye Neighbors, nephew of the bride, of Raleigh, and Carson James Perdue, nephew of the groom, of Clayton, served as ringbearers.
The groom's father served as best man. Groomsmen were James Martin Edwards IV, brother-in-law of the bride, of Little Mountain, SC; Joshua David Neighbors, brother-in-law of the bride, of Raleigh; Johnnie Franklin Perdue, Jr., brother-in-law of the groom, of Clayton; Robert Willis Pope III, friend of the groom, of Raleigh; and Adam Mark Walker, friend of the groom, of Raleigh.
