Emily Ann Scott, 84, of Blowing Rock passed away on Thursday December 11, 2014 at her residence.
Emily was born on October 19, 1930 in Siler City to the late Guy Vernon Williams and Margaret Decie Dark Williams. Emily was a respected retired school teacher.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years Phillip Matthews Scott, a brother Dick Williams, and a sister Blanche Willoughby.
Survivors include her long-time companion Rupert Flaherty, her daughters Phyllis Glenn Scott-Melton and husband Michael of Marietta, GA., Margaret Ann Scott of Raleigh, and sons Phillip Matthews Scott of Raleigh, Shayne Flaherty of Raleigh and Shawn Ell of Raleigh. Survivors also include three grandchildren, Brittney Phillips of Dallas GA., Blake Melton of Dallas, GA. and Jordan Ell of New York and great grandchildren, Carson Phillips, Reagan Phillips, Wyatt Melton and Gunner Melton of Dallas, GA.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday January 10, 2015 at Faith Bridge United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ben Carson officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Casting Bread Ministries, at Faith Bridge United Methodist Church or to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
