Juanita Yoder Colvard of Raleigh, our wonderful and loving mother and grandmother, passed away on December 20 at the age of 90.
Juanita was born on March 16, 1924, the daughter of Ethel Setzer Yoder and M. Craig Yoder. She married Charles Deward Colvard, who died in 2004.
Juanita received her degree in English at Lenoir Rhyne College, and was the first woman to attend Gettysburg Theological Seminary, where she earned a Masters degree in religious education. While raising five children, she obtained a Masters degree in guidance counseling from UNC-G and later worked for Wake County Schools.
Juanita was known for her quiet and friendly manner, sharp mind, and wonderful sense of humor. She cherished her many friendships with fellow residents at the Cypress and Oak Park communities in Raleigh, and with her lifelong friends from Hickory.
