Mary Amelia Bryant, 60, of Cary, died Monday night after a seven week battle with pancreatic cancer.
Amelia served as the Vice President of Financial Services for the FHFMA. She worked for the NCHA for the past ten years and served as the State Uniform Billing Committee. She served for twenty years in various healthcare financial management positions at University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina (known as Vidant Health System) in Greenville including administrator of cost accounting and accounts review, administrator of patient financial services and reimbursement. Prior to that, she worked at WakeMed in Raleigh as an assistant controller and internal auditor. She has a B.S. in business administration from Meredith College and has held leadership positions at both the national and state level within the Healthcare Financial Management Association, including president of the N.C. Chapter and a three-year term on the national HFMA board of directors. Amelia is a certified healthcare professional, Fellow.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, at Zebulon Baptist Church.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Gordon Massey Bryant; brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Gina Bryant and nephew, Joseph Bryant all of Zebulon. She was preceded in death by her father, Milton “Pete” Bryant.

Amelia’s request was in lieu of flowers memorials to be made to Zebulon Baptist Church, 400 Arendell Ave., PO Box 366, Zebulon, NC 27597 or to Hopkins Chapel Baptist Church, 4525 Hopkins Chapel Rd., Zebulon, NC 27597.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church parlor.
