Barbara Sue Kissinger, 74, of Raleigh went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the 13th of January, 2015. Barbara was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on December 19th, 1940 to the late Robert and Nellie Mosley.
Barbara spent the early years of her life growing up in Oklahoma and moved with her family to Missouri at age eight. She graduated from Louisiana, Missouri High School and attended and graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Quincy, Illinois and had a long career as a registered nurse at Pike County Hospital and Cox Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. During all of her adult life her major concern and interest was the welfare of her family. She was active in her church and community. She enjoyed cooking, reading and traveling. She was an avid walker and had many friendships in the various communities in which she lived. She was a volunteer cook at several churches. Upon moving to Raleigh in 1984, she became active as a volunteer and participated in the Archaeology Society of North Carolina.
Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, James Mosley, and her daughter Debby and son-in-law Charlie Walker. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dave Kissinger, a daughter Jean and husband Barry Chambers of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, her son Tim of Raleigh, and five grandchildren, Doug Tiefenthaler of Salem, MO, Carly and husband Scott Buntin of Pleasanton, CA, Matt Walker and Devon Watson of Baton Rouge, LA, Zach and James Walker of Raleigh and her sister Margaret Landfather of Washington, MO. She also had numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends that she considered family.
She will be greatly missed by all.
A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held Friday, January 16th at 3:00 PM at Trinity Baptist Church at 4815 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC, 27609.
