Catherine Ann (Kitty) Tillmann, 94, of Durham, NC passed away peacefully on January 13, 2015 at the Forest at Duke retirement center. Kitty was born in Brooklyn, NY to Jay T. and Margaret Fox, and grew up on Long Island, NY in the town of Seaford. She and her husband raised their two sons in a home on the water. She split her time between her crafts, art work, and enjoying seafood they caught while boating on the Great South Bay. They retired to St. Petersburg, FL in 1973. While retired, Kitty and George traveled extensively. They took over 75 cruises, often teaching onboard arts and crafts classes. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 48 years, George. She is survived by her two sons, George and his wife, Gloria, of Colts Neck, NJ and Ralph and his wife, Connie, of Cary, NC; niece, Jayne Rudge of New Orleans, LA; granddaughters, Tammy and Carrie Meola of Marlboro, NJ; and great granddaughter, Eva Marie also of Marlboro, NJ.
Her large and caring heart, stories and smile will be greatly missed. She will be remembered warmly by family and friends. Our mother and father, “are a hard act to follow”. The family thanks the Forest at Duke staff for the great care they provided her.
The family will receive friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511, starting at 2pm on Sunday, January 18, 2015, followed by a funeral service at 3pm. A reception will be held at the funeral home immediately after the funeral service. Kitty will then go to St. Petersburg to join her husband, George, in a well earned rest.
