Mary Gibbs Bullock, 91, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2015 after several months of declining health.
Ms. Bullock was born on December 26, 1913 in Beaufort County to Ida McGee Jones and Andrew Hugh Jones. She is predeceased by her parents and her siblings, John McGee, Josh McGee, Janie Toler and Mae Moore and son-in-law James Edward Simmons IV. She is also predeceased by her husband, Harry Bradford Gibbs, Jr. who together established Gibbs Barbecue which she continued to run for many years after his death.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Harriet Gibbs Jenkins, Raleigh; Elizabeth Gibbs Simmons, Tarboro; Grandchildren, Myra Anne Jenkins, Greenville; Mary Latham and Jeff Johnson, Raleigh; Jim and Aleshia Simmons, Youngsville; Great-Grandchildren, Spencer Margaret Johnson and Latham Thomas Johnson, Raleigh.
The family will receive friends at 111 W Philips St, Tarboro. Services for Ms. Bullock will be 11 am Saturday, January 17, 2015 at St Luke’s Episcopal Church, 310 Panola St, Tarboro with Rev Janey Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
