Dr. Isaac I. H. Chen, a physics professor who has taught physics for over 40 years, passed away in Pasadena, California. He was 85. He was predeceased by his loving wife Patricia in 2004. Isaac I. H. Chen was born on March 2, 1929 in Tainan, Taiwan. His father was a dentist who studied in Japan in the early 1920. His mother was a nurse and a midwife. Isaac Chen graduated from National Taiwan University with a degree in physics. In 1963, he arrived in Raleigh to pursue graduate studies at North Carolina State University. Later he received a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Physics from N. C. State. Dr. Chen was a professor of physics in several universities in Taiwan and the United States until his retirement from Louisiana State University. He is survived by sons Charles, Clifton and Samuel, daughter Caroline, and grandchildren Sean, Joshua, Christine, Caleb and Aaron.
