Mrs. Mary Evelyn Adams Collins, died peacefully Wednesday night at Hock Family Pavilion.
Mrs. Collins was born in the Bizzell’s Grove Church community of Johnston County on December 29, 1920 to the late Marion B. and Minnie Massengill Adams. She moved to Durham at a very young age, where she was educated in the Durham County schools. She was employed with American Tobacco Company in Quality Control for over 25 years. A member of Faith Baptist Church, she was also a former longtime resident of Cheek Road. She was a dear daughter to Minnie and a beloved wife to Raymond, whom she married in 1940. He preceded her in death in 1971. Mrs. Collins relocated to The Meadows at Brier Creek in 2007.
Mrs. Collins was the last surviving member of her family. She leaves behind many loving cousins and friends, and many dear friends at The Meadows of Brier Creek.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. at the Howerton & Bryan Funeral Home.
