William Winkelblech Wance, 97, passed away on December 31, 2014. Born in Aaronsburg, Centre County, PA, he was the son of the late Sumner and Ruth Winkelblech Wance. He was married December 31, 1942 to Margie Acker of Centre County, PA who preceded him in death.
Inurnment for Mr. Wance and his wife Margie will be done in Aaronsburg, PA, at the Lutheran Cemetery. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.
Surviving are his children, Barbara Zartman of Christiansburg, VA, Betty Beets of Indianapolis, IN, William C. Wance of Louisburg, NC, caregiver son Steven of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother, Edward Wance of New Holland, PA.
Mr. Wance served 4 ½ years in the US Army Air Corps during WWII with one year in the Pacific Theatre as a Tech Sergeant with the 400th Bombardment Squadron 90th Bombardment Group. He then served over 30 years in the Air Force Reserves to the rank of Major. He graduated from Penn State University with a Master’s Degree in Industrial Psychology in 1949. His major employment for 20 years was doing research and test development for the Department of the Army at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis, IN.
