Donald Kelly Haley, 57, passed away last week at his home in Raleigh, NC. Kelly is survived by his daughter, Patricia Christine Haley of Raleigh, his sister Sandra Haley Brandt of Clayton, his brothers Henry Scott Haley and Timothy Alan Haley of Raleigh, two nieces, one great niece and one great nephew. He is preceded in death by his parents Walter C. “Buck” Haley and Lynda Jones Haley.
Kelly loved to play the guitar and relax listening to his collection of classic albums. He attended Cary High School and graduated on the Dean's List from Wake Technical Community College. Kelly followed in his father's footsteps as an electrician working for Haley's Electric Co. and later Wilson & Cofield. Kelly was a loving son, caring brother, and devoted father. He was loved by many people for his generosity and humorous stories. Though they never married, Kelly shared a special bond with Patricia's mother, Katherine Varvaro, and was a loving father figure to her three children Joie, Cheri, and Saul. His daughter, Patricia, was the light of his life. He was proud of everything she accomplished, and she was proud that her father raised her to be the person she is today. She will always be “his girl.”
A celebration of life will be held on his birthday, March 28, with a location to be announced.
