Mr. Allen Gilbert “Al” Lassiter, Jr., 72, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2015.
The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 am in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
A native of Halifax County, Al was a graduate of Scotland Neck High School, class of 1960. He also attended East Carolina University where he was active in the ROTC program and the Drill Team before joining the United States Air Force. Following his military service, Al began his 43 year career in the Logging industry holding various positions with several companies. In 2001, he started his own company, A.G. Lassiter Equipment Corp., which still operates today.
Al will be fondly remembered for his great personality and sense of humor. He enjoyed playing both the trumpet and guitar as well as having an appreciation of all music. He was kind and compassionate and had a great love for his family. He was well liked in both his personal and professional life.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Lois Martin Lassiter and Allen G. Lassiter; and three brothers, Larry Lassiter, Ted Lassiter, and Henry “BB” Lassiter.
He is survived by his: wife, Sandy Lassiter; daughters, Cathy L. Bouchard and husband, C.J., of Wilmington and Leah L. King and husband, Kenneth, of Wilmington; step-daughter, Stephanie Morgan, of Greenville; grandchildren, Mason Bouchard and Kyle King; and several nieces.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday prior to the service from 10 am until the funeral hour.
