89, died Monday, January 26, 2014. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Holly Springs Cemetery.
George was born January 1, 1926 to the late Jim M. and Eileen Betts Underwood. He served his country in the US Army during WWII. He also served as the commissioner of Holly Springs, Constable of Holly Springs Township, and owner of Underwood Furniture Company. He was known by many as Uncle George who loved gardening and animals. He was a loving father, brother, and grandfather, great grand father and friend to many who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Constance H. Underwood; three brothers; and five sisters.
George is survived by his daughter, S. Teresa Underwood of Holly Springs ; son, Tony Kip Underwood and wife, Amber of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Amber Renee Bowden and husband, Josh of Willow Spring, Buckley Underwood and Paige Underwood both of Fuquay-Varina; a great grand daughter, Aubrey Bowden; and sister, Virginia Gargano of Bethesda, Maryland.

The family will receive friends between 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday at Thomas Funeral Home, 401 N Ennis Street, Fuquay-Varina.
