Annie Laurie Hodges, 90, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Sunday morning, February 8, 2015 at Rex Healthcare. Born on January 27, 1925 in Johnston County; she was the daughter of the late Shuford and Esther Austin Coats and wife of the late Horace P. Hodges, Sr.
Annie Laurie was a member of First United Methodist Church of Cary. She was known for her spunk, her azaleas, dancing at any given chance and her fierce love for her family and friends. She lived for her children and grandchildren.
She is remembered by her three sons: Howard Lindsay Hodges and wife Bonnie, of Pittsboro, Joseph R. Hodges and wife Jan, of Raleigh and Horace P. Hodges, Jr. and wife Linda, of Morrisville; her five grandchildren: Lance M. Hodges, Joseph Randy Hodges, Jr. and wife Meredith, Stewart L. Hodges and wife Maggie, Horace Paul Hodges III and Laurie Margaret “Meg” Hodges Peacock and husband Dave; and five great-grandchildren: Tanner C. Hodges, Skylar and Palmer Hodges, Alexander Hodges and Sadie Peacock.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home (200 SE Maynard Road in Cary), with Funeral Services to be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 2 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Cary (117 S. Academy Street).
