Peggy Annas Wallace

Peggy Wallace, age 67, passed away February 3, 2015.

She was born in Sawmills, NC to Percy Durant Annas and Mary Lou Annas, May 12, 1947. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1965 and Lenoir Rhyne College in 1969. Peggy was married to Van J. Wallace, son of Ora Van Wallace and Louise Colvard Wallace of Connley Springs Road, Lenoir, NC.

Peggy began her teaching career with the Caldwell County schools assigned to Baton Elementary before relocating Cary NC. She was employed by the Wake County

board of Education assigned as a 4th grade teacher to Myrtle Underwood and Henry Adams Elementary. In 1990 she retired from teaching and joined her husband, Van Wallace in the insurance business, serving as an agent and vice president. She maintained a CISR, certified insurance repesentive until retiring from the insurance profession.

Peggy loved her teaching experience and especially her students. She also loved working with follow teachers to promote the learning experience. She was active in the NCEA, NEA, serving as her school representative as well as representative to the national convention.

Peggy loved life and family and travel, always ready to head to the beach, or mountains to hike. In later years, she and Van enjoyed traveling to national parks, riding old steam trains and visiting family in Caldwell County.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Van Wallace of Cary, NC; sister, Wanda Annas Baker, of Hudson, NC, sister, Marietta Annas Jones, of Soctia, NY; brother, Wesley E. Annas, and wife, Margie Morley Annas, West Palm Beach , FL; sister-in-law, Patricia Annas Deal, Swansboro, NCc, aunt, Georgia Sullivan Alicki, Lenoir, NC, niece, Cheri Annas White and husband, Barry and their daughter Emily, Applegate, CA, niece, Leslie Jones Buhrmaster and husband John and their children Jennifer, Amy and David, Soctia, NY, niece, Kimberly Annas Leach and husband Randy and their children Courtney and Megan, Apex, NC, niece, Kelly Annas wood and husband David and their children Lindsey and Bailey, nephews, Christopher Darryn Annas, Newton Conover, NC, Charles Cary Annas, Chapel Hill, NC, grand niece, Sidney Annas , West Palm Beach, FL grand nephew, Jeffery Ross Annas, West Palm Beach, FL.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Percy D. Annas and Mary Lou Annas, brother, Charles E. Annas, nephew, Jeffrey Stephen Annas, brother-in-law, Robert F. Baker, brother-in-law, dr. Melvin D. Jones, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Annas.

Peggy was a member of Greenwood Forest Baptist Church, NCEA, CISR, and was named a Rotary International Paul Harris fellow.

Funeral service will be conducted at Evans Funeral Service Chapel in Lenoir February 14 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Jim Hamby officiating. The family will receive from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 prior to the service. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank all the friends and relatives who reached out to Peggy during her illness. Especially caregivers, Ashley, La La, Marilyn, Sarah, Alma, Grace, Tereka, Latoya, Shannon.

Cary, NC a memorial service celebrating Peggy’s life will be held at Greenwood Forest Baptist Church, 110 SE Maynard Rd, Cary, NC February 16, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the Reception following the service.
