Cecil Jones

Cecil Jones was born on June 30, 1925 in Wilson County to the late William Plummer Jones, Sr. and the late Mattie Jones Jones. He departed his earthly life February 6, 2015.

Cecil received his formal education from the Wilson County School System until he was drafted by the United States Navy. When Cecil finished his tour in the Navy he returned to Sims for a short time but eventually moved to the north and settled in the windy city, Philadelphia. Cecil was a charismatic person who was a man’s man who had a contagious smile.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Plummer and Mattie Jones; his wife, Christine Drew Jones; all of his brothers, Richard “Dick”, William Jr. “Bill” and Albert; two sisters, Olie Jones Robinson and Mattie Jones Coleman.

Cecil is survived by a sister, Leona Jones Deans Dunn of Raleigh, NC; a son, Charles Wilkins and Charles’ mother, Beatrice Wilkins both of Wilson, NC; three special nieces, Geneva Jones Cowan (Clayton) of Mooresville, NC, Ola Linda Deans Bennett (George) of Raleigh, NC and Monica Felder of Stockbridge, GA; a sister-in-law, Ephigenia Jones of Goldsboro, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, relatives and friends.

A memorial service celebrating his life and legacy will be held Tuesday at 2 pm at Carrons Funeral Home 325 East Nash St, Wilson. Elder Donna Simms Pulley will officiate.
