Daryl Ethridge Brewer, 81 of Raleigh went to be with his Lord and Savior with his family and friends by his side singing Amazing Grace, as he went into the arms of Jesus, Monday, February 9, 2015 at Wake Medical Center. He loved and witnessed for the Lord and lived with the Holy Spirit everyday of his life. He retired with NC State Government Department of Cultural Resources with 32 years of service. Daryl was owner of Brewer’s Rental Properties. He was actively involved with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, where he served as the President for the Raleigh Chapter. Daryl was the first recipient to receive the Dr. Alexander Spock Award. His passion for the foundation was fueled by the deaths of his two children from Cystic Fibrosis.
Born November 3, 1933 in Sampson County, NC, he was the son of the late Hubert Lewis and Rosa Bell Brewer. Daryl was preceded in death by his son, Daryl Keith and daughter, Kimberly Lynn; brothers, Velburn, Glenn, Ronald, J.O.; sisters, Evelyn and Jewel. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 wonderful years, Faye Brewer; devoted son, David Brewer and his fiancé Sunny; precious daughter, Sandra Foil and her loyal husband Bobby; two adorable grandchildren, Brandon and Lauren Foil; a sweet great-grandchild, Aubree Rose Foil; many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.
He was a loving and devoted husband to his faithful wife Faye. Daryl’s greatest joy in life was going to church and singing in the choir. His family has many fond memories together at their Kure Beach house. He loved going to the state fair, mountains, and spending time with his family and friends at their horse farm. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Before joining Longview Baptist Church in 2001, Daryl was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon, a Sunday School Teacher, served on the Pulpit Committee, and Chairman of the Properties Committee. He served at Calvary Baptist Church for 42 years, including preaching at Sunnybrook Rest Home for 18 years.
Daryl said before he died, as Paul did, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, now there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord the Righteous Judge shall give me at that day, and not only to me, but to all them that love the Lord”.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Montlawn Funeral Home, 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC 27603.
The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Longview Baptist Church, 2308 New Hope Road, Raleigh, NC 27604, officiated by Dr. Randy McKinney. Burial will follow immediately at Montlawn Memorial Park.
