Norman R Linnekin, 93, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sun., Feb. 8th. Norman, originally from Mineola, NY, has lived in Raleigh since 1953. He graduated from NYU with a B.S. degree in chemical engineering in 1948. He served as engineering officer of LST 31 in the Pacific Theater 1943-1946. Norman retired in 1986, after a long career with Westinghouse Meter Division in Raleigh. He had a passion for music and sang with the Sir Walter Raleigh Barber Shop Chorus for several years, and concurrently with the White Memorial Church choir. He is survived by his wife, LaRue Pate Linnekin, his son, Rodney ( & wife, Mary Lou), two grandsons – Ryan and Erik, and 4 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SPCA of Wake County, or Guiding Eyes for the Blind, PO Box 97007, Washington, DC 20090. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Sat., Feb. 14th, at White Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1704 Oberlin Rd., followed by visitation at the church.
