Katherine Louise (“Weese”) McCrary Howard, age 93, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2015 at the Glenaire retirement community in Cary, NC. Born in Wilmington, NC on May 23, 1921 to Robert Emmett McCrary and Marie Boney McCrary, she spent most of her life in New Bern, NC before moving to Cary in 2013. She was employed by the Craven County Department of Social Services for over twenty years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of New Bern for 67 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward C. Howard in 1978. She is survived by her son, E. Cader Howard (Noel) of Cary; grandsons, Reverend E. Cader Howard, Jr. (Cameron) of Stillwater, Minnesota and M. Elliot Howard (Casey) of Apex, NC; and great grandson, Isaac Cader Howard; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Louise was a devout Presbyterian whose Boney and McCrary families somewhat dubiously claimed to have been of that denomination even before it was founded by John Knox. She was blessed with a quiet, but deep faith. She always wore a smile and was completely devoted to her friends and family.
