Lillian Hewitt Brothers, 97 of Elizabeth City, NC died Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Carolina House. She was four days shy of her ninety-eighth birthday. Born in Pasquotank County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Clarence Hewitt and Alethia Chappell Hewitt and the widow of Fred W. Brothers, Jr. to whom she was married for fifty-eight years. She was a former beautician and a member of Newland United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Senior Citizen club and N.A.R.F.E.
She is survived by three sons, Aaron W. Brothers (Pam), Joel V. Brothers (Peggy) and Carl R. Brothers (Gay) all of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren, Adam Brothers (Kari) of Seattle, Amy Denson (Jason) of Kitty Hawk, Benjamin Brothers of Raleigh and Lauren Reynolds (Cameron) of Raleigh; and two great grandchildren, Maren Brothers of Seattle and Grayson Reynolds of Raleigh. In addition to her husband and parents, she was pre-deceased by a sister, Mary H. Sawyer; and six brothers, George Hewitt, Robert Hewitt, Willard Hewitt, Elwood Hewitt, Leonard Hewitt and Charlie Lewis Hewitt and a grandson, Jonathan Brothers.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Carolina House and Community Home Care and Hospice as well as Kitty Nixon and Glennie Burnham for the love, care and kindness shown to Mrs. Brothers.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dan Baer officiating. The family will receive friends in the lobby of the funeral home following the service.
