Marylou Hogan

Marylou Hogan, 78, of Kill Devil Hills, NC, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at WakeMed Cary Hospital surrounded by her family.

Marylou was born on May 8, 1936 in St Claire, PA to the late Luther G. Montgomery and Mary Clews Montgomery. A woman of strong faith, she was always involved in her church. She and her husband, Jim, raised their family in Hilltown, PA attending Good Shepherd Episcopal Church where they were members of the choir and Marylou was a youth leader. They retired to Kill Devil Hills and quickly became involved in Colington United Methodist Church singing in the choir and the Concert Chorale of the Outer Banks. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, she was a licensed practical nurse, choir member, skater, bowler, quilter, seamstress, youth leader, foster parent, gardener, cancer survivor, and a dear friend to many. Her life will remembered as that of a creative, caring woman who enjoyed time with family and friends and never lost the ability to laugh and play.

Marylou is preceded in death by her brother, Harry Montgomery and granddaughter, Rachel Hogan. She is survived by her husband of 57 years James Andrew Hogan, Sr.; son James Andrew Hogan, Jr. and his wife, Beth of Halifax, PA; daughters, Cheryl Koch and her husband, Kenneth of Apex, NC; Kim Rossi and her husband, Mark of Chapel Hill, NC; sister, Lynda Manz and her husband, Greg of Collegeville, PA; ten grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. at Colington United Methodist Church in Kill Devil Hills on March 15, 2015. A 10:00 a.m. graveside service will be held at Philadelphia Memorial Park in Frazer, PA on March 21, 2015.
