James Wyatt Baker, 82, loving husband, daddy, granddaddy, great-granddaddy, and brother went home to be with the Lord March 13, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.
He was the son of the late Myrtle Baker and Wyatt Baker. Survivors include his beloved wife of 39 wonderful years, Polly Bullock Baker and their children: Patrick Baker (Peggy), and Casey Pantages (Jason); three children from his previous marriage, James Baker, Susan McLean (Des), Sharon Baker, and was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Bryan Baker. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, Dylan Baker, Jacob Pantages, Jeffrey McLean (Traci), Stephen McLean, Tyler McLean (fiancé Danielle), Mark Poage; 3 great-grandchildren, Desmond McLean, Joselynn Poage, Emma Poage; three sisters, Nancy, Shirley and Jean; two brothers, Garland and Charles.
James was a master craftsman who not only built houses, but was a self-taught cabinet maker. He was a teacher to many, passing on his knowledge to family members, and others willing to learn. Later in life, he became a general contractor and was known for his work in many counties and various states. The pride he took in his work was obvious and leaves a legacy for us all.
The Family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. with the Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 16, 2015 at Montlawn Funeral Chapel with Pastor Chris Partin officiating. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
