William Britt Haynes, age 64, died Sunday afternoon at his home.
Born January 5, 1951 in Wilson, Britt was the son of the late William and Bessie Britt Haynes. He attended the Wilson County schools, where he graduated from Fike High School and then attended Atlantic Christian College, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree.
A resident of Durham for 33 years, Britt was employed with American International Furniture Company for 20 years, and then he owned and operated Rockwood Unfinished Furniture for the past twelve years. He belonged to the Unfinished Furniture Association, and also the Woodmen of the World. An avid horse lover, Britt was a member of the Saddlebred Association.
Britt had lots of friends he loved dearly, and enjoyed entertaining in his home. He loved gardening and going to the beach, especially Topsail.

Surviving are his partner of many years, Dennis E. Bass; his brother, Charles Winstead and family of Ocala, Florida; two beloved aunts, Doris Branch of Jacksonville, Florida, and Ruby Britt of Fayetteville, and also Luke and Mason, their beloved family pets.
Friends will received at the home of Britt and Dennis on Wednesday from 2 to 5 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ASPCA, 200 Petfinder Lane, Raleigh, North Carolina 27603.
