Dewey Moses Ellis, 83, of Raleigh, died at home, Thursday, April 9, 2015. The Celebration of Life will be at Bay Leaf Baptist Church at 11:00 am on Monday, April 13, 2015.
Dewey was born in Durham, NC July 3, 1931 to the late John Thomas Ellis and Eulalah Vaughn Ellis. Dewey attended NC State. He also served his country in the U. S. Marines during the Korean War. He worked with the NC Wildlife Commission and the NC Highway Patrol. He completed his career as a Training Supervisor and Continuing Ed Instructor with 27 years of experience with Farm Bureau Insurance. Dewey was also an active member of Bay Leaf Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and taught Men’s Sunday School Class for 35 years.
Surviving: wife, Sandra Batts Ellis; son, George Colin Wallace and his wife, Sherry of Youngsville; grand darlings: Tori, Alix, Colin and Nikki; sisters: Ellen E. McFarland of Greensboro, Juanita E. Johnson of Durham, Elsie E. Thomas of King; brother: Floyd Ellis of Durham.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Ellis.
