Mrs. Roxie Dudley Johnson, 99, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015.
A graveside service will be held Sunday at 2 PM in Ayden Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson, daughter of the late Cleveland and Effie Vincent, was a lifelong resident of Pitt County. She was the oldest living graduate of Winterville High School. She was a farmer’s wife and worked for many years as a seamstress out of her home. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Grifton United Methodist Church and was a longtime member of St. John’s Home Demonstration Club. She loved all types of crafts, from crochet and needlepoint to oil painting.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by two husbands, William Paul Dudley and Willard Lee “Bill” Johnson; and 8 siblings.

She is survived by her daughters, Marlene D. Wilson of New Bern, and Phyllis D. Dewar and husband, James, of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Vincent P. Wilson, M.D. of Cary, and Michelle W. Lemanski, CPA and husband, Frank, of Clayton; sister, Connie V. Hardee of Ayden; stepson, Edward Frank Johnson of Rocky Mount; sister-in-law, Jewel M. Johnson of Grifton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
