Kenneth James Flynn, 81, died Friday, March 20, 2015 after a brief illness.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Anne Taylor Flynn. He is survived by his 4 loving daughters, Kathleen and Kari Flynn, Eileen Camp, and Julie Mickus, as well as 6 grandchildren.
Ken was born and raised in Somerville, MA, and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He studied electrical engineering at Northeastern University and worked for IBM. Later, he came out of retirement to work at Charles and Colvard in the RTP.
Ken loved history, maps, a good western, and steak and potatoes. He never stopped learning and was an avid reader. Fascinated by astronomy, this past winter he studied string theory; he was working on plans to ‘go off the grid’.

He was adored by his family. His charm, enthusiasm and love will be sorely missed.
The family will receive friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd., Cary on Saturday, April 18, 2015 between 1 and 3pm with a prayer service at 2:30pm. Private burial will be held at Wake Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Raleigh Rescue Mission.
