Bruce James Schwentker passed away on March 9, 2015 with his family around him.
Bruce had been a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Chapel Hill, NC. He was a Christian Science Nurse and worked at many of the nursing facilities out of state. Bruce also had volunteered at UNC Hospitals on the Rehab Unit speaking to other stroke survivors. He also was a mentor with the StrokeNet community online.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 40 years Susie Schwentker, a daughter Joanne and family, and a son James and family. He is also survived by his brothers David of Taos, NM and Robert and his wife Joy, of Raleigh, NC and their respective families.
Bruce was born in Drexel Hill, PA on August 22, 1952. He and his family moved to Chapel Hill, NC in 1954. He graduated from Chapel Hill High School in 1972. He worked at many different jobs before becoming a Christian Science nurse which included Belks Department Store in Chapel Hill, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and many other retail businesses.

Bruce and his wife lived in Chapel Hill/Carrboro until his death. Bruce passed away at UNC Hospitals after long illness.
There will be a memorial service for Bruce on May 9, 2015 at 2pm at the Christian Science Society of Chapel Hill church on Martin Luther King Blvd in Chapel Hill, NC. Online condolences may be expressed at cremationsocietync.com
