Michael Harold Ashe, 69, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015 at his home.
Born in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Mr. Ashe was a proud member of the United States Army for 32 years and retired as Lieutenant Colonel. He also served his community as the director of the Board of Elections for Durham County for ten years. Mike was a wonderful husband, father, doting grandfather, and was proud to be a member of the “Wheezers and Geezers” running club.
Mr. Ashe is survived by his wife of 47 years, Catherine Ashe, sons Timothy Ashe, Peter Ashe and Andrew Ashe and wife Mabel, daughter Jennifer Ashe and husband Steve Jones, sisters Sandra Goldberg and husband Howard and Barbara Ashe, and five grandchildren, Zoe Ashe-Jones, Nyah Ashe, Lucy Ashe-Jones, Artula Ashe, and Thea Ashe.
Military Honors will be rendered at 10 a.m. on April 24 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, 400 Murchison Road, Spring Lake, N.C. The family will receive visitors at the home that day from 4 to 6 pm.
