Elizabeth Jane Macdonald, (EJ), age 61, left Transitions Hospice Care in Raleigh to be with Jesus at 10 PM on April 14, 2015. She had metastatic breast cancer since 2009. She was born on Feb. 15, 1954 to Walter and Lois Albers, of Golden Illinois. EJ graduated from the University of Illinois, Champagne-Urbana and received her Master’s Degree in nursing from Pace University, in 1982. She married Bill Macdonald on Dec. 28, 1985. She recently retired from Wake County Health and Human Services where she was an OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner for 23 years. She was a member of Southside Church. She was known for resurrecting the art of homemade pie baking, for her family and friends. In addition to her husband, she is survived by 3 children, Beth, Jonathan and Reed Macdonald, Mother, Lois Croxton, and Mother-in-law Kay Macdonald. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Albers, sisters, Connie Albers and Bonnie Hopkins and grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Eilert Albers and Mr. & Mrs. Arch Tenhaeff. This verse kept showing up to EJ in many places since her diagnosis of stomach cancer on Dec 29: “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” Rom. 15:13. That joy, peace & confidence in her reward were evident to the many that came to express their love and thankfulness to EJ for her willingness to be an ambassador for Christ in all her relationships.
A Memorial service will be held at Southside Church, 299 Carlton St., Clayton NC at 3PM on Saturday, April 18. A 25 minute power point photo presentation accompanied by EJ’s 6 favorite melodies on the hammer dulcimer will begin at 2:30 PM.
Visitation will follow the service in the lobby.
