Julia Borden Stout / Corcoran, 66, of Black Mountain, NC passed away March 31, 2015 at home with family. Julia was born October 20, 1948 in Denver, CO to the late Doyle Allison and Mildred Lee Stout. She is survived by her husband, Jon E. Corcoran and cat, Monte; brothers and wives, Fitzhugh and Ann Stout of Charlotte; Doyle and Jane Stout of Charlotte; Robert and Debbie Stout of Raleigh; sister and husband, Mary and Bill Covington of Asheville; nieces and husbands, Lauren and Chris Moore , Cecily; Sara and Peter Mills; nephews, Jonathan Stout and Jennings Stout. Julia grew up in Charlotte, NC and went to St. Catherine's School, Richmond, VA. After graduation she studied the fine arts in Italy and completed a Degree in Interior Design from the International Institute of Interior Design, Washington, DC. In 1985 Julia went back to North Carolina State University School of Design, Raleigh, NC and accomplished two Degrees; Bachelor of Environmental Design in Product Design 87', and Masters of Science in Product Design 89'. Julia was a colorful and energetic Metal Sculptor, Artist, Designer, Educator, and Yoga Instructor. Giuilia Art Studio was started in the River District, Asheville, NC 99', and is currently located in Black Mountain, NC, (Giuilia.com). Her work is displayed throughout the Southeast. She was an active member of The International Sculptor Center, Tri-State Sculptors, and Mountain Sculptors. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Christ Church, 1412 Providence Rd., Charlotte, NC 28207. The family will receive friends following the service.
