David Thomas Barnes, age 60 of Raleigh, North Carolina passed away Friday, April 3, 2015. He was born May 5th, 1954 in Columbus County, NC.
In addition to his parents, David Thomas and Annie White Barnes of Spartanburg, SC, David is survived by his wife, Paula Gately Barnes, of Raleigh, NC, children Emily of Raleigh, Christal Gordon of Atlanta, GA, Jason Kuykendall of Chadbourn, NC and granddaughter, Lyric Gordon of Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Barnes and family of Spartanburg, SC and niece Lindsay Meyers and family of Lewisville, NC.
David was an amazing person full of life, kindness and generosity of spirit. He loved his family, 3 dogs, friends and took great pride in his work helping to build Biogen and other local pharmaceutical plants. He livened up any space he was in with his humor, compassion and vitality; he will be deeply missed.
There will be a Celebration of David’s life on May 2, 2015 at 11 am at the United Methodist Church, 506 Lake Shore Drive, Lake Waccamaw, NC in honor of his May 5th birthday. Following the service, a luncheon will be held in his honor at the home of Patricia and David Medlin, 860 Bella Colla, Lake Waccamaw, NC, hosted by the Medlin and Mitchell Barnes family. Lake Waccamaw was a special place for David serving as a family gathering spot for the extended Barnes family of aunts, uncles and cousins. Barbecue, one of David’s favorite lunches, will be served immediate following his Memorial.
