N&O cartoonist Dwane Powell’s memorial service moved to Saturday

A memorial service for retired News & Observer cartoonist Dwane Powell has been rescheduled for Saturday due to bad weather.

The service will be held at the City of Raleigh Museum, 220 Fayetteville St., from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., family members said Friday.

Powell began work at The News & Observer in 1975 and continued satirizing current events full time until his retirement in 2009. But he kept up his drawings until his death Sunday night from a rare form of cancer.
