A viral social-media post accusing Democrats of failing to capitalize on Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff's online appeal appears to have prompted a rapid response from the party itself.

Within 24 hours of the post gaining traction, the official Democratic Party X account reposted the same photo of Ossoff that had gone viral with the campaign message: “Let’s reelect @Ossoff to the Senate, Georgia.”

The original post, shared May 20 by X user @SeemaJilani, echoed a long-running frustration among many Democratic voters that the party consistently fumbles its own marketing-critics have argued for a while that Republicans tend to dominate viral messaging online. Newsweek has contacted the Democratic Party by email.

Ossoff has represented Georgia in the U.S. Senate since 2021 and was described in Politico as the “first Extremely Online senator.” He is expected to face a highly competitive reelection campaign in one of the country's most closely watched battleground states.

“The fact that Dems have not leveraged @ossoff’s looks and spun him into an easy on the eyes candidate with btw [by the way] fantastic ideas, shows just how bad Dems are at PR,” @SeemaJilani wrote.
