Well, like many parents who have children on the traditional calendar, I sent my son off to school on Monday for a new school year.
With his new monogrammed backpack on his back, I dropped him off and said, “Have a nice day!”
I immediately spun that car out of carpool and said to my daughter, “Let’s go shopping!” Something the two of us have not done all summer because my son hates to shop, and it’s always more difficult to accomplish anything when you have more than one child with you.
We shopped for her almost all day.
We got home in time to meet the bus. I couldn’t wait to hear about his day.
I asked, “How was your first day?”
He responded, “It was good. I don’t have homework.”
That’s it. That’s all I got.
Are you kidding me?
It could be a long year with little words.
